Care Instructions

Brass

Our brass pieces are delicate and sharp so please handle with care. To remove any tarnishing use a gentle brass cleaner and a soft cloth to polish.

Felt

Spot clean stains with a damp cloth and steam to revive. Felt hats can gently brushed with a clothes or suede brush. In the warmer months gently pack the crown with a tissue ball and store your hat in a box with cedar or a similar moth deterrent.

Straw

Spot clean stains with a damp cloth. If your straw hat loses its shape, gently steam, reshape and let it cool. A flat brim can be straightened with a warm iron (on a flat service) using a press cloth. To keep you straw at its best avoid contact with excess water, chlorine and abrasive surfaces. Summer hats should be worn but not stored in direct sunlight.

Cotton & silk scarves

Spot clean or hand wash at 30º if required. To remove creases press on a warm setting.

Turbans

Gently steam to revive and remove creases. Spot clean with a damp cloth if required.

Veils

To keep your veil at its best store it on a tissue ball or on our HOOD veil pillow, this will help maintain its shape when it’s not being worn. Your veil can be revived with a gentle steam.

Wool hats & berets

Spot clean with a damp cloth and steam to refresh. In the warmer months store your wool hat in a box with cedar or a similar moth deterrent.

Sunglasses

To protect your sunglasses, when you are not wearing them, keep them in the cloth bag provided or a hard case.

Our sunglasses are made using eco-friendly cellulose acetate and the lenses provide 100% UV protection. Our glasses are ‘one size’ but all faces are not same so if your frames slip, pinch or feel off-balance we recommend taking them to be fitted at your local optometrist where they can also be fit prescription lenses.
